Camping Makes The Ultimate Family Vacation

Have you been considering taking your next family vacation soon? If you have, have you decided what you are going to do and where you are going to go? If you haven't decided yet perhaps it's time to take a look at camping for your next family vacation. As a fun and healthy activity you can't go far wrong with a family camping trip.

Although it is nice to hear that camping is a fun way to spend your next family vacation, you may be wondering exactly why that is. What you need to know is that camping is often referred to as one of America's favorite pastimes. The reasons for that are many and varied as well as are the reasons for why it is one of the best family vacation ideas. A few of the many reasons why you should at least examine camping for your next family vacation are outlined below.

One of the many reasons why camping is perfect for family vacations is because camping is in activity that is ideal for individuals of all different ages. Newborns are no exception as many parents take them along on the trip as well. As long you as you keep a good eye on your kids camping is safe for even the youngest child.

Helping to make camping one of the most popular pastimes is the sheer variety of camping styles a family can get involved in. Every family will be able to find a style that suits them. Decide the amount of time that you want to spend camping. It's perfectly acceptable to go for a single day or night, an entire weekend or a whole month if that's what you want. This means that you can plan your next family camping vacation around you and your family. In addition to the length of your camping adventure, you will also find that you can camp a number of different ways. So when you decide that camping is for you the next choice is to discover the style of camping that would most suit you and your family.

The activities that you and your family will have access to is another one of the many reasons why camping is great for family vacations. Even though camping is fun on its own there are quite a lot of other activities which you and your family will also find interesting and fun. In the United States, a large number of campground parks have onsite swimming pools, onsite lakes, onsite playgrounds, and onsite hiking trails. What does this mean for the average camper? It means you have all your entertainment in the one area. Put up the tent or park the caravan or RV and you'll be able to enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, hiking and many more activities.

Being an affordable alternative to the more upmarket fancy holiday is another reason camping is such a popular choice among families, especially the larger ones. Although you will likely be charged an admission fee or a camping fee to camp at a public campground park, you will likely find the cost very affordable. Camping equipment is also affordable and a lot of stuff you need can be taken straight from home. Other equipment you may need can be purchase for discount prices both online and offline.

In summing up it's clear to see that camping has huge advantages over the more traditional form of family vacation no matter what the age groups in your family are. As fun and exciting as camping can be, it is important that you remember to keep an eye on your children at all times, especially younger children.

Yosemite National Park to be Featured on New Quarter

Date: July 6, 2010
The General Public is Invited to Attend Special Ceremony Celebrating Quarter Release
On July 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., the general public is invited to attend a special ceremony to celebrate the launch of the new Yosemite Quarter.  This historic special event will take place in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and the public is highly encouraged to participate in the festivities.  There will be live music, special guest speakers, and children under the age of 18 at the event will receive a free Yosemite Quarter to commemorate this special day.  There is no charge to attend the event.  A specially designed cake featuring the Yosemite Quarter will be served to all participants attending the event.
At the conclusion of the event, there will be a coin exchange in which visitors can obtain rolls of newly minted Yosemite Quarters bearing the design that honors the park.  The quarters will be exchanged at face value, with a one roll minimum and ten roll maximum.  This is the first opportunity for members of the public to obtain this historic, collectable quarter.
The reverse (tails side) of the Yosemite Quarter features El Capitan and the Merced River.  El Capitan, the world’s largest granite monolith, is one of the iconic symbols of the world famous national park.  This is the second time that Yosemite National Park has been featured on a quarter.  The first quarter, featuring Half Dome and John Muir, was released in 2005, and was part of the 50 State Quarters Program.
“We are thrilled to be the third quarter released as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.  Visitors will now have another opportunity to be reminded of Yosemite National Park with the launch of this beautiful new quarter.  The national parks represent the best of America and this is a great way to honor our nation’s heritage,” said Yosemite National Park Superintendent Don Neubacher.
The Yosemite Quarter is one of the coins featured in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.  This is the first year of the United States Mint’s new 12-year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites in each state.  Each year, the public will see five new quarters bearing the designs emblematic of the site being honored.
